The Baltimore Academy of Defence is proud to present the first seminar by Assistant Instructor Jamie Laning. He will teach the use of the Broadsword and Targe (Sword & Shield) in the Scottish Highland tradition.

The warriors of the Scottish Highlands have been widely renowned as some of most formidable and deadly warriors in history. Among the many reasons for this reputation is their traditional system of combat. Used from the end of the Middle Ages well into the Modern period, the traditional method of highland swordsmanship was tested against warriors from many different nations across centuries.
This seminar draws from the writings of British Masters of Defence Thomas Page and Donald McBane as well as the Penicuik Sketches. Through this we hope to provide a comprehensive and historical look at the traditional method used by these legendary warriors.

You will learn!
- The basic cuts and guards of the Highland Tradition
- Broadsword and Targe Techniques
- The Applications of Broadsword and Targe combat through a dueling lense
